Nuance TALKS is a piece of software which allows blind and visually impaired people to access almost all of a mobile phone's features without the need for sighted assistance. It can quickly and easily be installed onto a compatible handset, Nokia Series 60 or Series 80 phones running the Symbian software. TALKS is supplied with a license for the Eloquence voices by default. If the Realspeak and Vocalizer voices are required instead please let us know when purchasing.

Zooms is a mobile phone screen magnification program. It comes as standard with TALKS or can be purchased on its own for a reduced price.

TALKS uses its built-in voice synthesiser to turn what is displayed on the screen into clearly spoken text, the speed, pitch and volume of which can be altered to personal preference. Without any sight required it allows the user to:

  • Manage contacts

  • View call logs

  • Set ringtones and text alerts

  • Record voice clips

  • Take notes

  • Access the calendar, clock and alarm

  • Organise files

  • Send and receive data using available connections

  • Personalise features including wallpapers, screensavers, start-up message and voice commands

  • Assign speed dials

  • Set a specific ringtone for anyone stored in the contact list

  • The list is endless and only limited by the handset's capabilities

TALKS can be downloaded and installed from the computer using Bluetooth or a data cable and Nokia PC Suite. All necessary files can be found on the "Downloads" Page of this Website. We can also send the software files directly to anyone via Email or on a CD. Some sighted assistance may be required.

If you purchase TALKS and a mobile phone from us we will install and register the software at no additional cost. If you already have a phone and want us to install and register TALKS for you, send us your handset with the SIM and battery inserted (no other accessories required) and we will install and register the software and return the handset by insured next day delivery for £10.00.

There are now a range of options when purchasing a new or upgraded TALKS license. The license can be tied to the IMEI of a handset or to a SIM card. Prices for new licenses and upgrades vary depending on the option chosen.

If purchasing a license upgrade, we will need the IMEI or SIM number of the current license to process the upgrade. If you are unsure if you qualify for an upgrade, send us either number and we will check this out for you.
